What makes a blog post great?
Is it the content? Is it the length of the blog post? Is it the grammar used?
Is it the writing style of the author?
Honestly, I think it’s all of the above.
But this is isn’t a post about what makes a blog post great. This is my first blog post and I am so excited for it! (Got your attention, huh? Good.)
I will be blogging mostly about stuff that interests me, which could be anything, so just know that I may blog about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. K? Cool. (This is my first time blogging, so bear with me, please.)
So, without further ado, let’s get started.
Let me start off by saying I may (no, sorry, I WILL) blog a lot about journalism, art and photography, my top 3 main interests and passions. Other topics may include the medical field, dance, food, travel and/or whatever else may pop into my head (hang tight, this may get crazy). Let’s take a better look at these top 3 topics.
Journalism has been around since the dawn of time, just like my other favorite topic I will blog about, art.
My studying journalism was, I’ll be honest, not intentional. I didn’t really want to do journalism when I started my college career 12 years ago after I graduated high school. I didn’t hate it, but I wasn’t crazy about it either. I honestly didn’t know what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. But I knew I loved (I still do) movies, entertainment, English, geography, art, photography, and journalism seemed like it would give me a chance to be near these wonderful industries. But let me tell you, if I would have known how hard it was to break in to journalism, I would have at least done an internship in school. It would have given me the experience I need to break in, and it’s something I came to realize was crucial to be able to practice journalism.
I do not regret going to school for journalism and getting my bachelor’s degree in it, but I do wish I would have done more to gain the experience I need. But regrets are pointless. That’s why I created my own website with a blog section to boost my confidence and gain the experience I need to be successful in this industry. Or just make great content for myself and for my audience for the heck of it. Because I like it. That’s what it should be about.
What can I say about art? Art is something so beautiful and vast it can’t possibly be explained in this blog post. All I know is I love art. Art can be anything you want it to be.
Ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpting, all of it fascinates me.
I believe art should be expressed, not oppressed. Expanded, not limited. Unbounded, not restricted.
Art is a way for artists like myself to express themselves and their feelings, thoughts or ideas. It has no right or wrong way to be expressed. Which is why I love it. Which is why I sketched (still do) and took up art as an elective in high school. Which is why I have an art section of my website. Which is why I LOVE going to arts and crafts stores like Michael’s and Joann Fabrics for no reason and love to browse the rows in the stores looking at all the different art supplies and what nots (I might even buy something if the price is right).
I have a dream to one day own my own loft apartment in NYC where the sole purpose of said apartment is for me to have a place to paint, draw and sketch my works of art. Or sculpt and make arts and crafts. Maybe even rent my place out to artists so they may create art of their own as well. That would be so rewarding. I’d be honored to be able to give my “home” to someone to live in, so they may better express themselves through art. Wow.
So, where did art come from? Art came from us, from human beings and our wild lives and imaginations.
I always told myself if I wasn’t a journalist, I’ll be an artist. But then I’d starve to death and ain’t nobody got time for that, but, I still love it and I still want a loft apartment in NYC all for myself to paint and sketch all day if I want to. Or lend it to someone else so they may paint and draw as well or to just escape the pressures of modern life and the hustle and bustle of the busy streets.
My art consists of work that is a form of media: photography, videos and writing.
As you will see from my blog posts and web content, I have many interests and the arts is just one of the ways I will express myself with no hesitation or qualms.
Last but certainly not least we have photography.
Photography has been around for a long time.
When I have enough money, I will invest in a DSLR camera to film YouTube videos. I want to start my own YouTube channel. But that’s not what this section is about. It’s about photography. And cameras. And stills. And anything else related to photography.
You can tell I am running out of things to say. Ha ha.
Instead of talking let my photography speak for itself.
Below you can find some pictures I’ve taken of one of my happy places – the beach. Enjoy!
